Solar Eclipse Mask Activity
This solar eclipse engagement activity involves creating ceremonial eclipse masks as a creative and educational project for various age groups, particularly students. The project provides templates and instructions in a downloadable zip file, requiring about 8 hours of preparation for hosting organizations and varying completion times for participants based on age and supervision. The masks serve as a unique and enjoyable way to introduce solar eclipses and solar viewing, fostering engagement in museums, schools, and other venues.
Dark Sky Measurement
The Asterion Foundation granted $5,000 to the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) in December 2021 for a dark sky initiative. Delays led to a second-half 2022 launch. A cost-effective alternative, the Opple Light Master III, was identified, evaluated, and will replace the Lighting Passport. The IDA now plans to grant 20-25 Dark Sky Measurement kits to its Chapters, simplifying the program’s operation. The IDA expresses gratitude for the Asterion Foundation’s support.
CAMS Grant
February, 2018
SETI, CAMS-Florida
Awarded: $1,523.39
